What’s does F1, F1B and Multigenerational mean?
When we tell you Coral is an F1 doodle, we're saying she's from a purebred Labrador and a purebred Poodle. When she mates with Finley, a purebred Poodle, they create F1B doodles.
As for Amy, she's a multigenerational Labradoodle. Meaning both her parents are second generation or greater.
Do Labradoodles shed?
It depends. First generation (F1) doodles have inconsistent coats. They could have a straighter, shedding coat, more like the Labrador parent. Later generations (F1B, F2, Multigen) are typically bred back to the poodle, resulting in zero to minimal or unnoticeable shedding.
Are Labradoodles hypoallergenic?
While some purebred dog breeds are considered "hypoallergenic," mixed breed dogs will vary. Our Labradoodles are more allergy friendly because of the Poodle genes, but we do not consider them 100% allergy-free. However, it depends on the severity of the person's allergy. Someone with dog allergies may not react to the dog's coat/dander, but may react to the saliva. Someone with the same severity may not react at all. If you have allergies, we still welcome you to come hang out with us and see if you could have a fur-ever connection.
What size are Labradoodles?
Poodles, in general, come in four sizes - toy, miniature, standard and moyen. The moyen is the "fourth size" and basically means medium. Our current studs (Finley and Patches) are moyen Poodles. We cannot guarantee what size or weight our doodle puppies will grow into (see adoption agreement for more info) but we do not breed toy sizes. Depending on the height of the shoulders once the dog is an adult, determines whether they are mini, medium, or standard. Our focus has turned to breeding miniature and medium Labradoodles versus the standard (or large) dogs we've bred in previous years.
